Facts

The applicant, John James, made a complaint to the Information Commissioner under section 165 of the Data Protection Act 2018, referenced IC-503070-H5G4. He then applied to the First-tier Tribunal (General Regulatory Chamber) under section 166 of the Data Protection Act 2018, seeking an outcome from the Commissioner on that complaint. The Commissioner filed a supplementary response and applied to strike out the application. By directions of 27 August 2026, Judge Harris required the applicant to say whether, in light of the supplementary response, he wished to withdraw or to continue, and gave him the chance to make further submissions on the strike-out application. The applicant replied that he did not oppose the Commissioner relying on the supplementary response and accepted that the relief he sought, an outcome on the complaint, had been provided by the Commissioner's letter of 14 August 2026. He asked the Tribunal to record that the outcome was issued on 14 August 2026, not 14 July 2026 as one paragraph of the supplementary response wrongly stated. Subject to that, he did not object to determination without a further hearing. The matter was determined on the papers by Judge Mornington.
