Facts

The claimant, Alexander Reid, is a martial artist and television personality; the defendant, Katie Price, is a well-known TV personality, author and former glamour model. They became a couple in about 2009, married on 2 February 2010, and divorced on 20 March 2012. During the relationship, in October 2009 and June 2010, the defendant obtained video recordings and photographs of the claimant engaged in sexual activity, described in the proceedings as the Private Information. After disclosures came to light, on 12 September 2011 the defendant gave written undertakings not to publish or disclose the footage, stills, or any description of the sexual acts recorded. In 2017 the claimant sued for breach of confidence, misuse of private information, breach of contract, compensation under the Data Protection Act 1998 and harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997, alleging disclosures to at least fifty third parties between about 2012 and 9 January 2018. The Claim Form limited the damages claim to £25,000 for issue purposes. The harassment claim was dropped by amendment on 16 April 2018. Jay J granted an interim non-disclosure injunction on 18 May 2018. Master Gidden gave directions on 17 April 2019; on 27 November 2019 Master Davison struck out the Defence for non-compliance and entered judgment on liability, with damages to be assessed. The defendant, made bankrupt on 26 November 2019, did not appear.
